Motorsport is Changing—20 Years of Progress & We’re Not Done Yet

Celebrating Women in Motorsport: 20 Years of Progress, Passion & Travel.

When I first entered the industry, the environment was challenging in more ways than one. The concept of motorsport travel itself was almost unheard of. In those early days, discussions around racing were dominated by male voices, and the idea that women could play a significant role—whether in the paddock, in the boardroom, or even as avid fans traveling to the track—was largely dismissed. It was a time of bold dreams and steep learning curves.

Back then, motorsport had a raw, unfiltered energy—fewer rules, fewer restrictions, and a real sense of unpredictability. Travel wasn’t easy, especially in an industry where women were rarely seen beyond the grandstands. Without the internet, information was harder to come by; race schedules were printed in pamphlets, and any last-minute changes were spread through radio updates or word of mouth. If you missed a transfer, there was no Uber to save the day—you either made it on time or found your own way to the circuit. At the track, there were no giant screens—just the roar of engines and the scramble to catch glimpses through binoculars. Even the paddock had a different culture. In Monaco, team members would head straight to the bars in their uniforms, blending into the nightlife after a long day. It was a time when motorsport was wilder, less polished, and far from inclusive—but change was coming!

Over the past 20 years, I’ve had the unique privilege of witnessing a significant transformation behind the scenes. The evolution has been remarkable. Today, you can find more women than ever before working in every facet of motorsport—from engineering and operations to sales, marketing, and travel. This shift hasn’t just been about filling quotas; it’s been about bringing fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to an industry that thrives on passion and adrenaline. We’ve seen major milestones, from Susie Wolff becoming the first woman in 22 years to take part in an official F1 session, to the launch of the F1 Academy, giving young female drivers a dedicated platform to progress.

Part of our mission has always been to promote motorsport travel in a way that opens up the experience to a broader audience. It’s not just about selling tickets or planning trips—it’s about creating moments that make your heart race when those red lights go off, whether you’re a lifelong fan or a newcomer to the sport. Over the years, we’ve seen how motorsport can unite people from diverse backgrounds, and how the thrill of the race can spark lifelong memories. And at the end of this year, we have the privilege of taking our first all-female group of fans to the Italian Grand Prix50 incredible women from Girls Across the Grid, celebrating the growing presence of female fans at the track.

Behind every successful campaign, every race weekend, and every piece of content we’ve shared, there’s a story of determination and collaboration. Our team grew, and so did the industry, evolving into a billion-dollar sector that now embraces the contributions of women in ways that were once unimaginable.

As we celebrate 20 years of motorsport travel, International Women’s Day offers a moment to reflect,  it’s clear that progress has been made, yet one area remains ripe for change: the track! It’s high time we see more women behind the wheel, pushing limits and setting new records.

Costa Brava – Explore the hidden gem during the Spanish Grand Prix

The Spanish Grand Prix is one of the most popular events on the Formula 1 calendar, attracting motor sport enthusiasts from all over the world. While many visitors flock to Barcelona for its vibrant atmosphere and proximity to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, there’s a hidden gem that offers a more relaxed and hassle-free stay – the Costa Brava. If you’re looking to enjoy the Grand Prix, Costa Brava is the ideal alternative to Barcelona.

Why opt to stay on the Costa Brava for the Spanish Grand Prix weekend?

1. Proximity to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya

The transfer time from the Costa Brava to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is about the same time as it is from Barcelona,  just 45 minutes away on race weekend. A great benefit for not only getting there but also knowing it won’t take ages to get back to your hotel after an action-packed day at the circuit.

2. Explore the beauty of the Costa Brava

While the Spanish Grand Prix may be the highlight of your trip, the Costa Brava offers guests the chance to explore. Known for its stunning beaches and charming coastal towns, the Costa Brava is a holiday destination in its own right.

When you’re not at the circuit, take the time to discover the beauty of this region. Visit the historic town of Tossa de Mar, where you can explore the medieval castle and wander through its charming old town. Stroll through the picturesque streets of Lloret de Mar or relax on the sandy beaches of Santa Susanna.

3. Delight in Costa Brava’s Culinary Scene

Food lovers will be in paradise on the Costa Brava. The region is renowned for its fresh seafood and traditional Catalan cuisine. Whether you’re dining at a seaside restaurant in Calella or enjoying tapas in a local bar in Blanes, the culinary options are endless.

Make sure to try local specialties such as suquet de peix (a traditional Catalan fish stew), escalivada (roasted vegetables), and crema catalana (a delicious custard dessert). The region also boasts several Michelin-starred restaurants for those looking to indulge in a gourmet dining experience.

4. Engage in Outdoor Activities

The Costa Brava is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Beyond sunbathing on the beaches, there are numerous activities to keep you active and entertained during the Spanish Grand Prix:

  • Water Sports: Try your hand at kayaking, paddleboarding or snorkeling along the rugged coastline. The crystal-clear waters and hidden coves make for a perfect aquatic adventure.
  • Hiking and Cycling: The region offers numerous hiking and cycling trails that wind through picturesque landscapes. The Cami de Ronda coastal path is particularly popular, offering stunning views of the Mediterranean and access to secluded beaches.
  • Golf: If you’re a golf enthusiast, Costa Brava has several top-quality golf courses where you can enjoy a round amidst beautiful surroundings.

You’ll enjoy the thrill of the Spanish Grand Prix whilst having the opportunity to kick-back by the coast in one of Spain’s most stunning regions. With its perfect blend of convenience, charm and relaxation, the Costa Brava is more than just a base for the Spanish Grand Prix—it’s the ideal place to extend your stay and turn your short break into a holiday.

Monaco Grand Prix: Why it’s the Crown Jewel?

The Monaco Grand Prix is the crown jewel of the Formula 1 calendar, a race that epitomises glamour, prestige and sheer racing prowess. Nestled in the heart of the picturesque Principality of Monaco, this historic race has captivated audiences and drivers alike since its inception in 1929. But what makes this event so special? Let’s delve into what draws Grandstand Motor Sports’ customers to the Monaco Grand Prix year after year.

1. Heritage and Prestige

The Monaco Grand Prix is not just a race; it is a symbol of heritage and prestige. The circuit, with its tight corners, elevation changes, and the famous tunnel, has remained largely unchanged since its inception. This makes for one of the most challenging tracks for drivers. Unlike other circuits, the Monaco track offers no margin for error, with barriers and guardrails inches away from the racing line, demanding precision and skill.

For those who appreciate the art of racing and the allure of exclusive events, the Monaco Grand Prix is a must-attend. It offers a rare opportunity to witness the finest drivers in the world tackle one of the most challenging circuits in motor sport.

2. Hospitality Options Galore

The Monaco Grand Prix offers an array of hospitality options that cater to every taste and preference. From VIP suites with gourmet dining and premium seating, to exclusive terraces and yacht experiences. The event ensures that every attendee can enjoy the race in style and comfort. These hospitality packages often include perks such as meet-and-greets with drivers, access to the paddock, and luxurious amenities that enhance the overall experience.

3. Flexibility with Ticketing

One of the unique aspects of the Monaco Grand Prix is the flexibility it offers with ticketing. It is one of the few Grand Prix races where you can reserve tickets for different stands on each day of the event. This allows spectators to enjoy various viewpoints and perspectives of the race, from the high-speed action at Sainte Devote to the tight hairpin at Grand Hotel. This flexibility enhances the viewing experience and allows attendees to fully appreciate the complexity and excitement of the Monaco circuit.

Mayank’s Top 5 tips for British Grand Prix

I ticked a massive box off my bucket list – attending the British Grand Prix at Silverstone! Having only ever watched F1 races on TV, the sheer scale and energy of the event absolutely blew me away. The highlight of the weekend, undoubtedly, was Lewis Hamilton clinching his record-breaking victory. The crowd erupted as he crossed the finish line. Witnessing a British legend win on home soil was something truly special. You could feel the collective pride radiating through the stands.

Being present at the circuit on all 3 days, I would like to share all the intel I accumulated. Here are my 5 tips for the British Grand Prix.

1. Grab Your Tickets Early

Silverstone often sells out fast. To ensure you get the best viewing spot, book your tickets well ahead of time. My preferred locations on the track were Hamilton B, Luffield, Woodcote, and Abbey B. These Grandstands offered fantastic views of the cars and overtakes on the track.

2. Be prepared for any weather changes

British weather, a master of disguise, can switch from glorious sunshine to a downpour in the blink of an eye. Even the weather predictions will fail. Pack layers – a waterproof jacket, sunscreen, and maybe even a travel umbrella (don’t let a sprinkle dampen your spirits).

3. Comfortable footwear

There’s a lot of walking between stands and grandstands. Ditch the fancy footwear and prioritise comfy shoes you can walk in all day. And I cannot insist on it enough but DO NOT WEAR WHITE SHOES!

4. Support your team unhinged

There were supporters from all over the world at the British Grand Prix. Embrace the vibrant team atmosphere! Don your favorite team’s merchandise and get ready to cheer. The energy is contagious, and trust me, you’ll want to be part of the collective roar when your favourite driver clinches a victory.

5. Plan Your Transport

Traffic can be a major hassle, so it’s important to plan your journey in advance. Unfortunately, Silverstone doesn’t have great public transport links and parking at the circuit is so expensive per day. Instead of trying to scramble for a place and join the endless queues for the Park & Ride buses, Grandstand Motorsports have their dedicated buses heading to and from their hotels all weekend. This way you can enjoy the day, have a few drinks and not worry about driving home or standing in the rain waiting for one of the Park & Ride shuttles.

The FIA and Formula 1 have revealed the calendar for the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship, marking the sport’s 75th anniversary with another thrilling 24-round season.

Celebrating 75 Years

Formula 1 CEO and President Stefano Domenicali commented, “2025 will be a special year as we celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the FIA Formula One World Championship, and it’s that legacy and experience that allows us to deliver such a strong calendar. Once again, we’ll visit 24 incredible venues around the world, delivering top-class racing, hospitality, and entertainment, which will be enjoyed by millions of fans worldwide.” The season kicks off with the Australian Grand Prix from March 14-16 and concludes with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 5-7.
